Potter & Potter's next sale will be held on Sunday, May 16th at 9:00 am and will feature magic memorabilia from the collection of Jay Marshall. This will be the fourth auction of rarities from Marshall's legendary collection.
It seems improbable that one collector could amass such a wide ranging and historically significant quantity of magicana. The constant question from customers is "What's left? There have already been three auctions!"
The answer: rare books (some privately circulated and known to exist in editions as limited as 6 or 8), posters and broadsides dating to the early 19th century (one broadside in the sale dates to 1815), apparatus used or owned by legendary magician's of the "golden age" (among them Edwin Brush, Karl Germain and Howard Thurston), a cache of Houdiniana (autographs, photographs, programs and challenges), collectible props, and large lots of foreign language books, ephemera and files of Jay Marshall's personal correspondence.
This is one sale you won't want to miss. Stay tuned for details and the digital edition of our catalog which will be available in mid-April.
