Our auction of vintage posters - including rare stone lithographs advertising Houdini, Kellar, Thurston and a few circus posters, too - was a rousing success by every standard. Highlights of the sale included a record price for a rare Theo Bamberg/Thurston half-sheet, which sold for $17,000 against a pre-sale estimate of $8,000/$10,000; and a one-sheet Houdini lithograph which sold for $25,000 against a pre-sale estimate of $15,000/$20,000.
Posters advertising Dante, Chung Ling Soo, Kellar, and other magicians of the golden age of magic also performed above expectations.
The auction received good publicity on Chicago's ABC Channel 7 news. Thanks to everyone who participated - in person, on the phone, and online - and to everyone who came out to the auction.
