Potter & Potter's final magic auction of the year will feature a closely-curated selection of magicana from the art's golden age and beyond. This "best of the best" offering features rare Kellar, Thurston, and Goldin lithographs - some coming to the market for the first time - alongside memorabilia from Harry Houdini's career and his family's scrapbooks, choice micro-magic effects, early printed books on conjuring, and relics from the Maskelyne dynasty of magicians. Costumes from the careers of Cardini and De Biere, apparatus owned and used by Dai Vernon, Floyd Thayer's own scrapbooks, and autographed editions of collectible classics will also cross the block.

Our first magic auction of 2026 will offer an array of collectibles in all familiar categories, from micro magic (Teyno, Taytelbaum) to stage tricks (including an illusion crafted by Mel Babcock); and books from the nineteenth century to the twenty-first will cross the block, in addition to posters, spook show window cards, photographs, Houdiniana, and magicana of all types.

Potter and Potter begins the new year with a wonderful and diverse rare book sale, with superb examples of modern firsts, Americana (including prints and engravings), maps, pop-up and children's books, and so much more. 

This wide-ranging auction of historical ephemera and memorabilia will include sessions of Civil War autographs and memorabilia, militaria, railroadiana, African Americana, autographs, antique photography, and advertising ephemera. Highlights include autographs of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and archives of space photos, panoramic images of great rarity, archives of uncommon imagery, and much more. 

Following on the heels of our 'Artifacts of Play' auction, this sale will celebrate the pastimes of yesteryear and the recent past. The auction will feature antique and modern playing cards and gambling memorabilia, elaborate vintage board games, and puzzles and curiosities from various collections.
